Members from the Aerosols- and Environmental Group are traveling to the USA to join the the international team of the NOAA SABRE mission.

This month scientists of the Aerosol- and Environmental Physics group of the University of Vienna will travel to Houston, Texas, USA to begin integrating the CAPS instrument into the NASA WB-57 research aircraft in preparation for the arctic deployment of the NOAA SABRE mission.

The team from the university of Vienna will participate in the integration and test flight phase of the mission, which takes place from mid-January to mid-February. In mid-February, the in-field phase of the campaign will begin, where members of the Aerosol- and Environmental Physics group will travel to Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska, USA to conduct research to better understand Arctic-influenced stratospheric aerosols and clouds using the CAPS instrument.

Some members of the group traveled to the USA last January and Febuary as well, to participate in the part of the campaign that took place in Houston, Texas in 2022. See more about their travels in our SABRE photo blog.
