First established in 2007 and held biennially, this year’s programme brought around 52 participants and lecturers from 19 countries to Vienna. Aimed at graduate students, early postdocs and professionals, it provides a solid grounding in aerosol science, centred on aerosol physics and complemented by aerosol chemistry and health applications, enabling attendees to understand and critically assess aerosol processes and their environmental interactions.

Participants praised the high academic quality, clear structure and effective mix of theory and practice. Highlights included the field experiment—hands-on work with a mobile particle counter and real-time particle-number observations—and an optional sponsor-led workshop by Swagelok. Live demonstrations and small experiments were singled out as particularly effective, while the keynote by Lea Ann Dailey was noted as engaging, interactive and closely tied to current research. The breadth of topics and strong networking opportunities were also widely valued.
